This mountain range is East of Phoenix with options to explore hiking, mountain biking, climbing, or horseback riding. It has also become one of my favorites. The natural beauty, variety of trails, and seclusion from rest of the world makes me feel amazing and coming back for more. The Superstition Mountains are breathtaking and Spring and Fall are the best times to visit and to be able to play outside all day. When you’re out hiking here its easy to forget you’re still near major cities and suburbs. The landscape engulfs you in to its different trails and valleys with more than enough greenery to woo the locals and surprise tourists.
This past month I hiked the Wave Cave, Peralta Trail, and Flat Iron. If you’re looking for two moderate and shorter hikes with great views opt for the first two. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, not afraid of heights, and looking for one hell of a challenge then give Flat Iron a try. I will warn those trying to hike Flat Iron to the summit: you will need plenty of food and water, bring proper shoes, and do your homework. I definitely crossed some challenges with this hike and now that I have knocked it off the to do list, I definitely don’t plan doing it twice! But please take in to consideration what your body is capable of and what interests you in hiking! Enjoy the photos and feel free to reach out with any tips or questions!
