Visit the Desert Botanical Garden for the Holidays

I’ve visited the Botanical Garden for a few different occasions and I have always had a great time. There are so many events to choose from year round like wine tastings, musical events and my favorite Las Noches de las Luminarias. The garden trail is lit with thousands of luminaria bags that lead you to different areas to relax, listen to music or have a glass of wine. Lights twinkle from tree canopies and spot lights shine on beautiful Agave’s the size of small cars! If you’re like me you often ask yourself, why can’t my container garden look like this! My green thumb needs some work but the Desert Botanical Garden provides great inspiration.

The Luminarias event is perfect for our holiday season. The weather in Arizona starts to drop and us ‘Zonies’ can break out our winter jackets and bundle up finally. Music is heard all over the garden as you stroll along walking closer to a jazz band or even a group of artists rocking out on strings. Christmas tree’s are uniquely placed and decorated to compliment what everyone looks forward to in December, time with family and friends for the holidays.

If you’re an Arizona local and you have yet to visit the garden, you must go now! You can visit the Las Noches de las Luminarias event till the end of December. If there’s a certain event or musical group you wish to see then I recommend looking at the DBG calendar to help decided when to go. As much as I love this event it is equally important to see the garden during the day as well. Consider grabbing a bite to eat at the restaurant Gertrudes, and then enjoying an afternoon with succulents and fresh herbs. During the day you can see the beautiful colors of the different plants and why the Desert landscape is so breathtaking.
